Cranberry Thumbprint Cookies – Easy Recipe To Make and Share

This is a very simple recipe that can be made in any flavor you like.  Try using your favorite preserves, jam, jelly, or piece of candied fruit to create the flavor combination your family will most enjoy.  It is also a wonderful way to incorporate cranberry flavor into your menu and use any extra cranberry sauce you may have made!

This is an especially fun family activity since you can put the kids to work creating the thumbprints and filling them with jelly.

Kids love to put their thumbprints in these easy to make cookies

Ingredients

½ cup butter
1 cup sugar
1 egg
½ tsp salt
2 cups flour
2 tsp baking powder
½ tsp vanilla extract
¼ cup whole berry cranberry sauce or preserves of choice
½ cup powdered sugar

Directions

Preheat oven to 400°F. Cream butter and sugar together; add egg and vanilla, and mix together. In a separate bowl, combine salt, flour, and baking powder—whisk together. Gradually add combined dry ingredients to creamed mixture, then mix well.

Use a small ice cream scoop to drop about 1 TBSP size mounds of dough on a baking sheet. Use your thumb to create a small well in the center of each cookie and carefully fill with about ½ tsp cranberry sauce. Bake 8 to 10 minutes until done but not yet browned.

Allow cookies to rest on the pan for a few minutes after removing from oven before transferring to a cooling rack and dust with powdered sugar. Do not allow them to cool completely on cookie sheet or they will stick.

Yield 24 medium-sized cookies
